*Is there any scientific evidence to suggest that Varmam Therapy works?*
I’m trained Varmam Therapy Consultant and find this topic and answers very interesting and I totally understand why some people need ‘evidence’
Firstly I’ll always point to the first line.
Does the treatment make people feel better? (or have less pain)
I have 100s of Ptz that universally feel better. This does not prove it is the Varmam Therapy that are doing it! But it’s effective. Which is surely the MOST IMPORTANT THING for the clients who have been suffering pain and come to the therapy room saying “I’ve tried everything else!.” Keep in mind a lot of everything else DOES have scientific ‘evidence’ and yet has NOT WORKED!
I think this is why sometimes scientific evidence can be misleading. There’s the old story that aerodynamically bees can’t fly. But, you know, they do.

*How it works; the theory in layman’s terms*
The Varmam point Stimulation an area of pain will illicit the human twitch response. This clearly happens. This pain signal is received by the brain and pain relieving chemicals are released (endorphins, which is a contraction of endogenous morphine)
Man-made Morphine is a pretty powerful pain reliever but the body’s internally made morphine (endogenous means made in the body) is approximately 5 times as potent.
Placebo effects
Nearly all kinds of drugs, medications and treatments have control group style studies and nearly all studies will include placebo replacements and nearly all studies return results that say something like ‘in the placebo group 15% of patients claimed improvements’ or ‘saw improvements’
Siddha Varmam Therapy is working on different theories to Indian Tamizh Siddha & Ayurveda System of Medicine
Siddha Varmam Therapy works on Pranan.
When you hurt your arm you simply rub it to get relief, no scientist has explained WHY this works but we all know it does seem to work!
